Taming Your Dragon: Transforming Fear into a Flight Companion
Taming Your Dragon: Transforming Fear into a Flight Companion
Understanding Your Dragon
Today you will understand that your inner dragon is not your enemy, but a flight companion that simply needs the right rider. It is a part of you that, instead of being subdued, should be listened to and guided with purpose.
The Wisdom of Dragons
"It is not your shadow nor your burden. It is your flight companion."
Any Given Morning
Imagine waking up on any given morning. The sun barely peeks through the window, and you feel a pressure in your chest: it is the anxiety that accompanies you every day. Often, your mind begins to weave a speech of self-criticism. "I’m not going to make it," "I’m not enough," you think as you look in the mirror. You say goodbye to your dreams before even starting the day. But what if I told you that voice, that internal critic, is not there to sabotage you, but to protect you? It simply does so in the way it has learned: scared and out of control.
The Voice of the Mind
Inside you, the dragon is screaming. This dragon represents your reptilian brain, that deeply instinctive part that reacts out of fear and the need for control. Often, we see ourselves as prisoners of its screams, but the truth is that it is not broken; it simply needs a rider who listens to it and gives it direction. The cool, analytical mind, the conscious rider, can find ways to train and transform this dragon into a powerful companion. In this process, we learn to listen to its deep breathing and educate it with compassion.
The Contracts of Trust
Now, it’s time to present a practical tool: the recognition contract. This is an internal agreement that says: "Everything I am, have, and do is already enough." This mantra invites you to pause and reflect every time you feel the dragon stirring. By repeating it, you will create a mental space where the dragon no longer has to scream to be heard, and consequently, you also lose that sense of constant burden.
Reconnection Exercise
I invite you to engage in a deep exercise. Take a piece of paper and write down three phrases that your dragon repeats in moments of doubt. Then, replace those phrases with affirmations that you would use on yourself with kindness and support. For example, change "I am a failure" to "I am learning and growing with every step I take." This simple exercise can open the door to significant transformation.
A New Possibility
Home, light up your mind! Transformation is within your reach. Imagine, after practicing these tools, having faced that critical voice with compassion. Imagine that every morning when you wake up, the dragon no longer screams in fear but breathes calmly, knowing that its rider is in charge. What could be achieved if you began this journey today?
