Master Your Inner Dragon: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Growth
Master Your Inner Dragon: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Growth
Discover how your mind can be your greatest ally and not your enemy.
"It is neither your shadow nor your burden. It is your flying companion."
Imagine waking up each morning with the usual anguish in your chest, that feeling that a fierce dragon threatens to devour you if you do not hurry. This is the daily life of many, an internal battle where anxiety becomes the protagonist. But what if we could change the narrative? What if instead of seeing our inner dragon as an enemy, we viewed it as an ally on our journey? Today, I invite you to explore this concept and understand that the key to a fear-free flight lies in the relationship you establish with your mind.
I remember a time when I felt overwhelmed. Life seemed like a series of ups and downs, where doubt and fear were always around the corner. I looked in the mirror and couldn’t help but ask myself: "Why do I constantly sabotage myself?" My thoughts turned into critical voices that undermined my confidence. However, one day, I decided it was enough. I began to listen to those voices instead of fighting against them. That’s how I discovered that my dragon — my mind — was actually trying to protect me, even if its way of doing so was destructive.
What is really happening inside you?
Modern life can make us feel like we are in constant survival mode. This is part of what the Dragon model describes: that judgmental voice that arises from our reptilian brain. This system, designed to protect us from dangers, often gets activated even in everyday situations. Your dragon—representing that primitive instinct—reacts without thinking, plunging you into a sea of anxiety and self-criticism. And this is where the rider comes into play, your consciousness that observes and directs.
The tension between the dragon and the rider is palpable. Your dragon says "Watch out!", while your rider tries to reason, "It's okay, we can control this." Conflict arises when we don’t know how to communicate with our reptilian part, and it is at that moment that our mind spirals out of control, leading us to extreme stress situations. The goal is not to conquer or dominate that dragon; the key is to learn to dialogue with it. What you need is an authentic connection. Remember: the problem is not the dragon, but the lack of communication.
Developing tools for internal control
This is where the reins come into play, those bridges between your intention and your actions. Imagine if verbal control became a powerful tool: what if, instead of saying "I must do it", you started saying "I choose to do it"? This simple verbal shift can have an immediate impact on how you perceive your responsibilities. The visual reign is also fundamental; observe what you focus on at the beginning of the day. Is it a clear goal or a sea of worries?
Follow this path and start creating your daily routine: choose a simple but intentional action. A small habit like meditating, journaling, or taking a walk can provide overwhelming clarity. By implementing these exercises, you not only inform your dragon of what you want, but also offer it purpose and direction.
A space for transformative practice
Imagine a space where you can connect with yourself, that is your weyr. It doesn’t need to be something grand. It can be the corner of your room, a quiet park, or even a notebook where you pour out your thoughts. The goal is to return to that space and regularly review your contracts and reins. Remember the saying: "A rider who does not practice... forgets how to guide." Establishing a mindful space will help you align your intentions with your actions. In this place, you can reflect on new ways to work with yourself and understand that recognizing your emotions is key to moving forward.
Your journey towards a new state of consciousness
The practice of introspection is essential. I invite you to reflect: what does your dragon tell you when you feel fear or failure? Make a list of those phrases. Then, present them as if you are speaking better to your inner voice, transforming them into words you would use with someone you love. Start changing those limiting narratives for affirmations of love and understanding.
"Your dragon is not broken. It just needs a rider who knows where it wants to go."
It’s time to take the next step. If any of this resonated with you, let’s take this path together.
