Taming the Dragon's Fear: A Journey Towards Calm

In brief: Fear is not an enemy but rather an energy that can be transformed. Understanding and integrating fear allows us to fly high with our inner dragon.

Taming the Dragon's Fear: A Journey Towards Calm

The Impact of Fear on Flight

As long as I can remember, fear has been a silent companion, a shadow that follows the dragon I believe I am. I often found myself in situations where fear took over, extinguishing the spark of my courage and autonomy. But what if I told you that instead of fighting that shadow, you could learn to fly with it?

Today you will understand why your mind sometimes sabotages you, and how to start turning it into your ally.

A Deep Reflection

I remember once trying to give a speech in public. Everything was prepared: the notes, the room, and an eager audience waiting to hear me. But then, the moment I stood in front of everyone, the dragon activated. I felt a knot in my stomach, my heart began to race, and all I wanted was to flee. Instead, I decided to stop, breathe, and observe my fear.

That first step was crucial. There, I conquered my automatic flight reaction. However, what I learned was not to make fear disappear, but to integrate it. I realized that the dragon was not my enemy, but a part of myself that wanted to protect me. By understanding the energy of fear, I was able to transform it into a tool for my expression.

The Connection Between Rider and Dragon

The fear your dragon feels is something visceral and primitive. You cannot simply tell it to stop. You need to learn to listen to it. And in that listening, the rider that you are begins to acquire the wisdom necessary to navigate the turbulent currents of life.

When you feel fear running through your veins, remember that the dragon is perceiving a threat. As a rider, your role is to regroup, observe, and consciously decide how to proceed, choosing not to react to every shadow that appears. Calmness and presence are your best allies. And when the dragon perceives your serenity, it begins to calm down as well.

Turning Fear into Understanding

It's not about fighting fear, but about understanding it and giving it a new purpose. Think of fear as energy that, if directed correctly, can become momentum. The key lies in how you respond to that energy. Instead of fleeing, choose to fly.

A Transformative Tool: The Emotional Reins

I present to you one of the most effective reins: the emotional rein. When you face situations that generate fear, ask yourself: “What emotions am I feeling right now?”. Instead of allowing those emotions to define you, remember them as visitors, not as permanent identities. This small shift in perspective is powerful.

Reflection Exercise: Listen to Your Dragon

Take a few minutes each day to sit calmly and observe your inner self. Ask your dragon what fear is dictating the decisions of that moment. Write down the answers. Allow yourself to feel them, but do not identify with them.

Closure: A New Perspective to Fly Together

If you recall that fearful situation on stage, imagine that now, instead of wanting to flee, you stand firm. You become the rider that embraces the dragon, and in that union, both of you fly together, free and strong. It’s not just about taming the dragon, but about learning to work as a team with it.

It is not your shadow nor your burden. It is your flight companion. If you manage to integrate and understand fear, you will not only free yourself from it but also enhance your ability to fly high.
