The Rider's Path: Recognizing Your Inner Greatness

Today you will understand why your mind sometimes sabotages you, and how to start turning it into your ally.

“Your dragon is not broken. It just needs a rider who knows where it wants to go.”

A Common Story of Struggle and Resilience

Imagine Clara, a woman who, like many, has lived under the constant pressure to prove her worth. Every morning, upon waking up, she feels a knot in her stomach. An echo of internal voices tells her that she is not enough, that she must strive harder, that every mistake is a sign of failure. At the office, she observes how her coworkers seem to move with confidence, while she clings to her chair, feeling that any moment could be the revelation: that she does not deserve to be there.

One afternoon, after a long day under this weight, Clara decided to change. She sat in her room, the lights off and only the soft murmur of the night as company. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. In that moment, she began to inventory her achievements. Not only academic or professional, but also personal, those moments when she had overcome fear and dared to dream.

As her mind began to clear, Clara realized the voice of her dragon, that protective instinct that, although it often seemed to sabotage her, was also there to ensure her survival. She understood that the constant struggle was not against an enemy, but a badly directed conversation. That night, she made a commitment: to recognize her greatness.

Understanding the Inner Dragon

What Clara experienced is common. Each of us has a dragon, which represents our reptilian brain. This dragon is instinct, the automatic reaction to fear and insecurity. But what does it really mean to have a dragon and how can we work with it instead of fighting it?

The dragon wants to protect you. It sometimes resorts to criticism and self-deprecation as defense mechanisms. It is the force within you that fears failure, that sees the world as a hostile place. When you face a challenge, this part of you awakens, seeking to ensure that you are good enough. However, what you do not know is that while the dragon is in charge, your ability to appreciate and be grateful for your achievements will be minimal.

The true power lies in learning to guide this dragon. When the rider (your consciousness) takes charge, the dynamic changes. It is essential that, while recognizing your achievements, you invite the dragon to see not only the risk but the worth of each step you take.

The Power of the Recognition Contract

One of the most effective tools for changing this dynamic is the Recognition Contract. This contract is a commitment to acceptance, of yourself and your dragon. It implies a clear understanding that everything you have achieved so far is enough, and that everything you are is full of value. Here are some keys to implement it:

  • Find a quiet space: Dedicate a few minutes each day to sit in silence.
  • Take inventory: Write down your achievements, without downplaying them.
  • Recognize yourself: Appreciate what you are and what you have accomplished.
  • Repeat the contract: Each day, remember that you are enough and that you deserve to feel gratitude and love.

When you repeat this contract, the dragon calms down and begins to align its vision with yours. Your awareness expands, and your ability to see what is beautiful and valuable in yourself strengthens.

Exercise for Personal Recognition

As an additional exercise, I invite you to:

  1. Make a list of phrases that your dragon repeats when you feel you are failing. Examples: “You are not enough,” “You don’t deserve this.”
  2. Rewrite those phrases, replacing them with affirmations you would use for someone you love. For example: “You are doing the best you can,” “Your worth doesn’t depend on your achievements.”

This exercise will help you become aware of how you talk to yourself. Once you become more aware of these voices, it will be easier to make the dragon listen to the rider.

A New Perspective: Embracing Gratitude

As you incorporate the Recognition Contract into your life, remember that the ultimate goal is to allow both the dragon and the rider to see the world through the eyes of gratitude and love. Any transformation, no matter how small, represents a step toward your greatness. Everything you are and have is already valuable.

Clara, after practicing for weeks, began to notice a change in her inner voice. It was no longer just an echo of insecurity, but a whisper that said: “You are enough as you are. There is value in each of your steps.”

Your Turn to Soar

The journey of each rider is unique, but they all face dragons. Remember that you are not alone in this. I invite you to practice this recognition contract and explore your greatness.
