Today you will understand how your mind can become your ally, allowing you to let go of the burdens that limit you and unleash your true potential.

“It’s not your shadow or your burden. It’s your flying companion.”

A Morning Full of Doubts

Imagine waking up one morning, the sun shining through the window, but despite the light, you feel a heaviness in your chest. Anxiety settles in your stomach, and an inner voice begins to resonate: “What if I can’t do it? What if I fail again?” Each question piles up like a brick, building a wall between you and the flight you desire.

You get dressed, but in your mind, an emotional storm grows. Like many of us, you cling to old beliefs and fears, and those fears are your inner dragons. You tell yourself you must control the situation, that you have to be perfect, that no one should see your flaws. But instead of soaring high, you feel trapped, powerless, unable to move forward.

Before heading out, you decide to look in the mirror. You ask yourself: “Why do I do this to myself?” It turns out that the voice in your head is more of an old travel companion than an enemy. Like all dragons, it seeks to protect you, but doesn’t know how to let you fly.

Understanding the Inner Dragon

This common situation reflects what we all feel, to varying degrees. Your inner dragon is your reptilian brain, that part of you that reacts from fear. It feels the need to protect you, to keep you safe, but sometimes its way of doing this is by blocking your aspirations. When it clings to old stories, it prevents you from flying.

From psychology, we know that this automatic reaction is related to our nervous system. When we feel threatened, our emotions can overflow, leading us to fight or flight responses. This is where the practice of letting go comes in.

The dragon is not your enemy. On the contrary, it is a part of you that needs to be understood and listened to. And you, as the rider, do not dominate the dragon but learn to dialogue with it. This relationship is built through understanding and practice.

The Letting Go Strategy

Now that you understand the dynamic between the dragon and the rider, it’s time to implement a powerful tool to free yourself from those limiting burdens: the exercise of letting go.

  1. Find a quiet space: Look for a place where you can be alone, without interruptions.
  2. Sit in silence: Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Focus your attention on your body and the emotions that arise.
  3. Identify your limiting thoughts: Make a mental list of the beliefs or fears that are weighing you down. What’s preventing you from moving forward?
  4. Visualize the release: Imagine those beliefs dissolving. Visualize how they fall to the ground and disappear, leaving you feeling lighter.
  5. Align your dragon with the release: Feel how, as you let go, your dragon begins to fly higher, aligning with your desire for freedom.

This practice not only helps you let go of what no longer serves you but also allows you to trust your flight. Over time, you will feel more open to seeking new opportunities.

A Transformation Exercise

Now that you have practiced letting go, I propose a deep exercise to generate self-awareness:

Write a letter to your inner dragon. Ask it what it needs from you to feel safe and relieve its fears. In doing so, you establish a sincere dialogue. At the end of the letter, include a commitment to yourself: “Today I choose to listen to and guide my dragon, not control it.”

The Path to Liberation

Recapping your journey, it’s important to remember that each day is a new opportunity to practice this relationship. Instead of living under the yoke of fear, you can choose to let go, guide, and transform.

Your story can change, just like the morning I presented to you. Imagine looking in that mirror and instead of doubts, you are filled with confidence. You see yourself walking towards your goals, feeling your dragon by your side, not as a burden, but as a companion in flight.
